Southern California Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates – Region 7About/Our Mission Statement
SCSGNA Mission Statement
The regional society is an organization of nurses and other healthcare providers engaged in the practice of gastroenterology/endoscopy. The regional society shall promote and provide education and information to its members; it shall advocate optimal care for patients with digestive disease(s) and those undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. We are an organization dedicated to the education of nurses in the field of gastroenterology. We cover the southern area of California from as far north as Fresno and as far south as the Mexican-American border.
This group was formed April 8, 1976 as the SCSGA (Southern California Society of Gastroenterology Assistants). By December of 1976 SCSGA had 61 members and in March of 1977 presented the first seminar for CEUs. We sponsor high quality GI Nursing seminars twice a year. We provide our constituents with opportunities for GI specific contact hours, which are vital for maintaining certification and growing expertise in the GI Nursing field. We also have smaller meetings that are held on a regular basis in a community near you to promote local networking and additional contact hours.
