Thank you to our attendees, volunteers, speakers and vendors for making our 2013 Fall Conference in Pasadena a wonderful success! We had 168 attendees and 21 vendors. Our fantastic line up of distinguished speakers included Dr. John Lipham who spoke on GERD; Dr. Christopher Chang, on the management of C. difficle infection and FMT; Dr. Stephen Pandol shared his thoughts on the prevention of pancreatic cancer, and Teresa Vos, RN provided us with three interactive presentations on various topics related to ERCP. Our business meeting allowed us to present to the attendees our newest board members, Memo Santoyo and Mandie Lee. We welcome them and appreciate their willingness to serve on our incredible board! There was a handover of the gavel to our 2014 SCSGNA President Judy Lindsay. Judy is passionate about education and certification, and seeks your input to help our board support you in the best way.
Also at this conference, SCSGNA initiated two important activities to help our GI community: 2015 President-elect Jerri Brown and Ann Herrin managed the book drive for GI nurses in developing countries and Midolie Loyola along with Terrie Stevens handled the raffle table to raise funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Board members wore purple pashiminas, the color representing pancreatic cancer awareness. We are honored by your donations of educational materials for the book drive and money for our fundraising! With your generosity, we raised $892 and with SCSGNA’s support, we will be able to donate $1000 in the fight against Pancreatic Cancer! Finally, our conference would not be complete without a fun, special ‘takeaway’ for our attendees! Our outgoing 2013 SCSGNA President Rita Walters-Peyton along with some very brave board members led attendees to do The Wobble dance at the final break! It was a wonderful conference, thanks to all of you!
